Miniclip has struck again. This time you're a mini-golf player competing in real time against five others. With simple controls, some skill, and a bit of luck, you can outrun the competition and be the first one that scores, or close to it.
How can you outrun somebody in a game of Golf though? Well, Golf Battle features two competitive game modes. In Classic Mode you will be trying to reach the hole in as few swings as possible. To make matters more interesting, you are always seeing what the other players are doing. The enemy balls act as ghosts in real time, so you shouldn't worry about hitting them.
The Rush Mode is an entirely different ball game. Here you'll want to act as fast as possible; turns don't count, only the speed. If stuck, slowpokes can find themselves entire legs behind the rest, and not even see the others when they get to a new hole.
Golf battle features the standard fare of chests, skins, clubs, and diamonds. What I appreciate is that watching ads is entirely up to the user. You can boost your coins, diamonds and chest collection by watching a video ad for each one, once every few hours.
The 3D graphics are beautiful, although they are prone to trick the eye when it comes to appreciating distances. I could not spot any visual glitch though.
Golf Battle is one of the most enjoyable mini-golf games out there. The freemium aspect is implemented tastefully, as it doesn't detract one bit from the game itself. A great way to spend a few minutes before going into the dentist's office.
